Humble Beginnings in the Cannabis Industry ~ In 2001, a small local chocolate company in Downtown Taos, New Mexico, “The Chocolate Cartel”, opened its doors serving handmade chocolates, gelatos and sorbets. Two brothers, (Tim & Scott Van Rixel) had a vision to use their chocolate expertise to build a strong brand and develop long lasting partnerships in the New Mexico and California medical cannabis markets. In 2010, they moved operations to Albuquerque and were the first Third-Party manufacturer to be licensed by the New Mexico Department of Health Medical Cannabis Program (NMMCP). Manufacturing hand-crafted chocolate that consistently and safely delivered quality medicine to patients in New Mexico and California became the company’s mission, purpose, and gold standard. Since inception, the award-winning Bhang Chocolate’s success in New Mexico and California has allowed the brand to expand globally. Bhang NM manufactures chocolate in both 10-piece bars and 4-piece nuggets and they are offered in a variety of flavors and milligrams of THC/CBD.
