Democratizing “Green Zone” Data: How PropTech is Shaping Cannabis Real Estate
Berekk Blackwell is the Chief Operating Officer of Zoned Properties, a strategic real estate development firm whose primary mission is to provide real estate and sustainability services for the regulated cannabis industry. Mr. Blackwell brings with him an abundance of experience in the expansion of retail brands both domestically and internationally. Previously, Berekk spent time in developing domestic and international markets for Kahala Brands, a conglomerate of over fifteen QSR franchises including Cold Stone Creamery and Blimpie Subs. Kahala Brands at the time has over 3,000 retail locations in over a dozen countries. This eventually led to working for Revamp Corporation in Tokyo, Japan. At the time, Revamp owned the Master Franchise rights for Cold Stone Creamery, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. While there, Berekk looked after international relationships between US companies looking to enter the Japanese market and facilitated development for all three concepts. He was able to build a strong support system in most major markets in the area which lead to many transpacific opportunities. Since coming back to the United States, Blackwell was involved in the acquisition and development of Daily Jam, a limited service breakfast and brunch chain with major growth potential. As President of Daily Jam, he received recognition from the industry by being named to QSR Magazine’s Top 40 Concepts in the Country Under 40 units. Blackwell holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. While there, Blackwell also played collegiate soccer, winning two national championships and receiving First Team All American honors.
