Maryland Cannabis Business Grant Applications Open, Lucky Leaf Expo Set for July
June 8, 2023 — Baltimore, Maryland — Cannabis entrepreneurs hoping to get involved with Maryland’s new adult-use marijuana market just got a boost thanks to new grants from the state’s Department of Commerce (DOC). Current medical marijuana operators wishing to convert to dual licenses are able to apply for funds via Medical License Conversion Fee Grants. Small businesses may receive grants between $25,000-$50,000.
On August 1, social equity applicants are invited to apply for funds from Maryland’s newly established Cannabis Business Assistance Fund (CBAC). The CBAC provides startup capital and helps cover operating costs for qualified social equity entrepreneurs. The fund will also send resources to interested Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) setting up cannabis education programs.
“The Cannabis Business Assistance Fund will help ensure more equitable footing as our medical cannabis license holders transition to recreational marijuana use in Maryland,” said Governor Wes Moore in a press release. “The fund promotes equitable economic growth and will empower our small, minority, and women-owned businesses to have a greater stake in this growing industry.”
