Texas A&M AgriLife initiated hemp programming in 2019 and research in 2020. At least 14 Texas A&M faculty across the state are engaged in hemp research and education. Dr. Trostle will outline early research and education efforts. He will discuss a realistic assessment for cannabinoid, fiber, and grain hemp from the view of Texas A&M and our clientele. This includes pragmatic thinking about hemp in Texas and early issues encountered in field hemp production.

Keiko Beatie has been a practitioner of Ayurveda, Chinese and Holistic Medicine since the 1970’s. Her specialty in Bach Flower and Homeopathic has continued with whole plant cannabis medicine and focusing on education to the community for better patient care, health and well-being. She is the Director of Education for Coral Cove Wellness Resort located in Jamaica. This is an all-inclusive cannabis and psychedelic educational resort on the oceanfront of the crystal blue waters of Jamaica.

She speaks at many mainstream and cannabis conferences across the country on subjects Senior Education, Pain Management, Edibles, Topicals, Patient Care, just to name a few. Her background, education and knowledge on the whole plant has assisted many to be able to be in this industry and community, but most of all heal themselves from many serious diseases.

At this time, she is a Board Member for many various organizations starting with OC NORML, The Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, Advisory Board Member for Cannabis World Congress & Business Expo, and Judge of Edibles for The Emerald Cup, and the Cannabis International Tourism Association.

While Texas may not seem to be moving as fast as other states on legislative reform for marijuana and its derivatives, Texas has made huge strides in recent years. Will the state continue to move forward, or getting dragged back by political disagreement?
This presentation will break down the political environment in Texas in 2020 and how the elections in November could impact the state of Hemp, CBD, and marijuana laws when the legislature reconvenes in January 2021.

My presentation will focus on the evolution of crop insurance for hemp including what insurance products were available in 2021 and potential improvements for the 2022 crop season. I will also provide an overview of the initial observations from the 2021 hemp growing season.
